What Would Love Do?

At the last Shift & Lift Experience I hosted, one of the participants mentioned that when she feels she has “Shifted and Drifted,” she asks herself, what would Laina do? – as her way of assessing the situation from a more expanded perspective. I was amused and commented that I am all for using any technique to practice shifting our attention from dis-empowering beliefs, to beliefs that allow us to feel better about our situation, which then naturally helps us feel better about ourselves. You see, the Spiritual Journey is simply about remembering who we really are: One with The Source of All That Is. And to me, that Source is Love. And the better we feel about ourselves is a direct reflection of the degree to which we are remembering that we are Love.

Last week, in the midst of my family reunion in Florida, I had a sweet insight. As I was experiencing, the lesson du jour, I began to ask myself, what would Laina Do? Yet what came out of my mouth was, What Would Love Do? I was overcome with emotion. I began to cry. In that instance, Source spoke through me, and reminded me that the highest technique we can use to awaken is to simply remember we are Love. I am not Laina, that is just one of my labels. I Am Love!

My spiritual journey has been amazing. And because of it, my life has been transformed into pure bliss. Nirvana. Heaven. Or whatever you prefer to label the state of joy and inner peace.

Yet sometimes I miss the mark. In Christianity, they use the term “sin” which is the term in archery for missing the mark. And at this phase on my spiritual journey, being Love is my natural state of being. So when I’m not that, when I’m not Love, I’m missing the mark.

When I am off center, I know it because I start judging. Sure, it’s to a lesser degree, but judging is judging, and in that space, I am not loving. And boy, is that an uncomfortable place for me. As I contemplated this, pool-side of course, I could see, in my mind’s eye, the small sign in my bedroom, above a picture of Ken and I, that reads: Love is patient, Love is kind.

Oh my gosh, I thought, that’s it! It’s so simple, yet so difficult to live in the "bull's eye" -  in Love. No wonder we’ve been labeled sinners! How many times do we Love as Source loves? How many times do we miss the mark, even if only by one degree? Missing the mark is missing the mark. Period! Being Love is the only goal I aim to have. And my journey has been single-pointed in that direction. I desire nothing else. So when my attention shifts and drifts, all I have to do to return to center – to Love – is be patient and kind with myself. In that space, I Am Love, and love is all that can possibly flow through me.

To the degree with which we know we are Love, we are patient and kind with ourselves and others. So if you want to stop missing the mark, drifting really, just ask yourself this simple yet profound question: What Would Love Do?

Now that’s one of the best Shift & Lift techniques around! Trust me, I had the opportunity to practice it a lot...with my magnificent sisters!

In Loving Oneness,

Laina

    • Thanks Laina, a great reminder before I go to vistit MY FAMILY next week. I love them all so much but all of us (26 people) in one house can fray the nerves at times. I will be thinking to myself "what would LOVE do" when I start to slip. Love you and your insight.
